Have you tried inputting what you have into something like that? Â I always felt it gave a fairly accurate reading as to the PSU required.. though the 8800GT isn't listed anymore, you could probably put in the 8800GTX and it'd still be in the same ballpark..
Well its ran fine for over a year with the 450 watts so I don't think that's it.
yeah it can run fine just like a nuclear power reactor can run fine on 110% power..but only for so long, ya know? It's just a theory and only takes a few seconds to go to that link and calculate stuff.
I used a 520 watt to power an oc'd c2 duo@3ghz with 2x4850s, then an i5@3.6ghz with the same cards, then a phenom 2@3.6ghz with a 4870/4850 crossfire setup.
i only replaced it recently with a 650w because it matched my case better.
