depending on how you look at it, it's fail or it's the fastest single gpu card out. not to mention some really impressive SLI numbers

the power draw is pretty hardcore as is the heat output

I was planning on getting one up until a day or so ago after reading more of the reviews

temps at full load are in the 90s with 105 being the peak temp. also, because it runs so damn hot, the fan is always moving pretty fast. the dB rating for the fan is in the 60s D:

thats too loud and too hot for me

my 8800GT was pretty hot, peaking at around 86C or something, it never got hot enough for my computer to shut itself off, but ended up getting aftermarket cooling for it which dropped it to 60-70s.
both of my 4850s would get upto about 95-96C and occasionally, shut the computer off and put the fans at 100% until i got aftermarket cooling which dropped it to 50-60s with no reboots.

this damn thing though... i imagine AC will probably come up with something - don't know when... but that'll be another $40-$60 for a cooler :(

looks like i'm goingto wait for the 5870 version of this to show up.

JUST WHAT I WANTED, MORE WAITING

and ATI aren't going to drop there prices

FUCKING NVIDIA

i'd water cool the fucker anyways.. but it'll be awhile before i decide to get one.. did anyone notice that the GeForce 300 series actually came out and left in a hurry?  I updated my nvidia drivers last night and noticed there were options to download drivers for the 300 and 300M for notebooks series..but i've yet to come across a 300 series card for sale.  oh well.. guess it was just to reel in the suckers before they put out the 400 series

I have a 360m
Thanks for pointing out there was drivers out for it.
It's awesome sauce not having to rely on Asus for drivers (There wasn't any downloads for the 300M series a few weeks ago at nvidia.)

yeah i've seen notebooks with the 300M series in them, thought about getting one..but the point of me NOT having a gaming computer is so that when im away from my house, i'm not sucked into games and can actually get Work done.. but i hadn't seen a 300 series for a desktop is what i meant to put

Yeah I haven't seen them either.
This runs UT3 flawlessly, although that's with my ini, I haven't tried it with everything turned up.
It also seems to run Supreme commander 2 without any problems. THose are the only 2 games I have tried on here so far.
It does get pretty hot though. the GPU reaches around 82c when I'm playing UT3
I grabbed a Zalman notebook cooler for it, it seems to help a bit.

Ah you want a gaming laptop so that way you can game while you are working.
Everyone needs a break from work to UT3 a little :p

Are they selling out because demand is so high or supply is so limited?

i read somewhere that Nvidia can't keep up with demand, so it's both

supply is limited because they were having huge troubles with the yields which is why it is so late

the GT 300 series was an oem part and all it is is a rebadged GT 2xx card which aren't that great.

a GTX 260M/280M is an 8800GT which are faster than the GT 2xx/3xx series

i don't recall what the GT 2xx series really was (maybe it was a cut down G92b core or something?) but i know the fermi is the first entirely new part from nvidia in a long while...

GTX 460 is expected to come out sometime around june. they should be pretty awesome...
